The SA-ITF National Team departed on their journey via China to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on 1 September 2011 to attend the 17th ITF Taekwon-Do Senior World Championships in Pyongyang. The full team of over fifteen members, including other heads of delegation, was excited to represent South Africa, some of them for the first time. Fifth degrees Sbnim Gerd Hummel and Sbnim Justin Glanville were requested to act as centre referees during this international event. The event began on 6 September and continued until 12 September. An interesting news leak from discussions during the ITF Congress revealed that South Africa was nominated to host a future Junior and Veteran’s World Championship.
